The Murcia government and the Tax Agency are combing through internet sites offering holiday lets in the region, which are unregistered with no tax being paid on income that was raised through them.

Twelve-hundred holiday lets were registered by Murcia tourist inspectors last year, with the La Manga area a key rental region.

The Tax Agency said that they carried out action in regard to eight thousand undeclared rental properties across Spain last year.
